まっすぐな柾目の木肌つややかな杉にかたちを与える。
古来から豊かな森にかこまれその木々を暮らしの中に取り入れてきた日本。
杉はその中でも身近にある樹木のひとつとして日本人は建築材から生活用具に至るまで今なお幅広く利用されています。
Japan is a country of wood.Japan that has been incorporated into rich forests since ancient times and has incorporated the trees in their lives. Cedar is one of the trees that are familiar among, the Japanese and are still widely used, from building materials to lifestyle tools.

大川組子 
繊細優美に組まれた幾何学模様から生み出される光と影の造形。
組子は釘を使わずに木と木を組みあわせる日本の伝統技術で、建具とともに床の間や欄間を美しく飾る造作です。
建具生産高日本一の大川では約300年前から建具職人によってその技術を発展させて現在の生活空間に継承されています。
Okawa Kumiko
Formations of light and shadow created from delicate, graceful, geometric patterns.Kumiko is a Japanese traditional technique that combines wooden pieces without using nails, and features beautifully, decorating the space where it is used.In Okawa the highest production of joinery in Japan. Joiner craftsmen have inherited the technology of Kumiko, and brought it into the present living space from as far back as about 300 years ago.

木工のまち大川市で創業二百年以上の伝統組子建具を受継ぐ六代目の組子細工職人。
Shiki Hiromi – Minatoya  
Hiromi Shiki is the 6th generation kumiko craftworker inheriting traditional assembly fittings from over 200 years of woodworking skills from Okawa-city.She works on making products that pursue new artistic values while preserving tradition.

博多曲物
杉の木目を生かし用の美を兼ね備えた暮らしの器。
曲物は薄板を曲げ巻きつけて底板を付けた容器であり、古来より庶民の暮らしから神事・祭祀等の多種多様な道具としてなくてはならないものでした。
博多では筥崎宮の祭具づくりの技術を継承しながら幅広い日用品の曲物づくりが広まったと言われて現在もお櫃、弁当箱等の暮らしの道具が親しまれています。
Hakata Magemono
Magemono is a container made from a thin sheet of cedar, bent and wrapped, with top and bottom, which has been indispensable since ancient times in a variety of uses, such as Shinto rituals and in ordinary people’s lives.agemono in Hakata has inherited the technique of Hakozaki-Shrine ritual box making. Now everyday living tools such as rice tubs, lunch boxes, etc are popular.

創業四百年以上、博多に伝わる曲物の伝統技術を受継ぐ十八代目の曲物師。

Tamaki Shibata is an 18th generation craftworker who inherits the traditional techniques handed down for over 400 years.She is working on making new instruments in line with the times while keeping tradition alive.
